Every new building should undergo the process of verification involving the Testing, Adjusting & Balancing of all/specific sub-systems like Fire/Life Safety Equipment, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, etc. The key is to ensure that the results match the project requirements as intended by the building owner together with its architects and planners.

Typically, a properly commissioned building is energy efficient, low in terms of operational cost, easier to maintain, etc. The benchmarks to achieve the same is documented by listing all the sub-systems and their intended optimal efficiency, operational needs, maintenance schedule, etc.

Generally, the building commissioning team gets involved with the pre-design team to document the intended results and track, adjust and record the results from occupancy to a complete set of seasons.

Another major aspect is the building standards, conformance to building regulations and zonal conditions.
